Rhea German Shepherd Dog Adult Female in Binghamton, New York

My story
Calling GSD LOVERS! Sweet, sweet Rhea. She is about two years old, around 50 pounds, and petite for a GS. Rhea has not had a good start to life. This lady came to BCHS because someone witnessed her being physically abused by her "owner."

Law enforcement luckily stepped in and saved this girl!

No dog deserves to be abused, but Rhea has the gentlest soul, and it kills us to think about her being hurt by the person who is supposed to love her most. We are determined to find a home where she is loved and cherished for the rest of her life. Rhea lady is a rare "calm shepherd." We say this is rare because we rarely get a shepherd with a docile and calm temperament. Usually, they are hyper, excitable, and a little hard to handle on a leash without training. This isn't the case for our Rhea girl. She loves to walk on a leash and keeps her kennel clean. She is housebroken too! Rhea would do best in a home without a large/loud man. Due to her history, she has a fear of them. She isn't reactive; she just shuts down and refuses to move.

We would consider a man adopting her if they committed to coming to meet her until she was comfortable around him. A female-only household may get precedence. Rhea would thrive in a calm household and seems to like other dogs. She needs to be cat tested and would do best with older kids. Want to give this princess a well-deserved happy ending?! Please, fill out an adoption application and come meet Rhea!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Rhea, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
